Import midi files - to timeline

Having trouble with LMMS? Ask about it here.
I haven't really got full control of import Midi yet.

I can certainly do it, but can I import Midi at different points in the timeline?

For example - and I have tried this - I have two versions of the same piece - with different instrumentation.

I can import each individually, or import both. If I import both, then what happens is that both sets of instruments play in sync.
Sometimes I might want that, but sometimes I might want to have the section played on the first set of instruments, then on the second set and so on. The point being that the importa are not played together, but sequentially.

I'm using the Song Editor for this.

I guess this is possible - but I've just not found out how to do it yet.

No, importing MIDI-file follows the MIDI-File structure. Since that begin at 0 mSecd, the project also starts at that position.

That's a pity. I think that kind of import is possible in other DAWs.

I guess it's not such a big deal, as presumably the same result could be obtained by importing both files, then selecting the tracks and repositioning them - but it would be more work, and I'm not sure how easy that would be. It shouldn't be too bad - I've done a few tests - but it is more work.

I can see how to do part of that action - though sadly I can't see how to unselect tracks once they've been moved. Not sure if this is a MacOS issue, or maybe a mouse button issue.

Thanks for the quick response though.
