review "Music Theory for Computer Musicians" (*½/5)

Got this from my library Monday, and was quite exited
I was disappointed.
Dont misunderstand, its actually a ok book, in respect to music-theories and such, but it is just not for Computer Musicians
Most of the figures are of sheet-music. It would at least be expected that a bokk specially for Computer Musicians would have most figures of piano-rolls, but no. The book is full of clefts and horizontal lines with scattered dots, and he even uses the phrase "play this scale on your keyboard" -repeatedly..
No i do not need how to play scales on a keyboard as a Computer Musician
I drop the notes in my piano-roll, and leave the play to the sequencer.
I you on the other hand looks for a book, that kind of connect traditional music theories, piano-exercises, and sheet-music somewhat to your piano-roll, then a few chapters may be of interest -But a dedicated book for Computer Musicians, this is not

Slightly off topic, but smart-phone apps are a great medium to supplement music theory. I also hate sheet music and prefer the piano-roll, and thankfully some like-minded devs have made apps that cater to this, like the android "chordgen" for learning church-mode scales and chord progressions.

I love sheet music, I can look at sheet music, and know that it will sound like. I can't do that looking at a piano-roll.
