Getting your music out there: DJ experience anyone?

Anything that doesn't fit into other topics goes here!
Nobody will listen to your music, no matter how good it is, if you don't find ways to let your music be heard.

Does anyone have experience with DJing, even if it's just playing at a birthday party of your friend or relative?
Did you get an opportunity to showcase your orignal mixes to an audience, small or big?
Or perhaps a local DJ is willing to play your track or include it in one of their mixtapes?
Although most of us here prefer to be making music in our little LMMS-centered studios instead of doing live performances, I was still wondering if any of you had interests in both these fields.

I know, LMMS is for producers, not DJs. While it's not necessary, I sure do see some benefits in producers and DJs connecting with one another. And if they both happen to be fans of free and open source software, all the more reason to join forces.
I was a warm-up DJ for a DNB party. My DJing skills weren't much on point since it was my first gig ever, but it was pretty fun. I did not play any of my tracks since they didn't really fit in the mix, but I played them on the big speakers before the party started, and they sounded decent.

I like doing live stuff, and in the end i might end up doing more live performance stuff. As for (play/sync shit stuff) DJing goes, its fun, but not really my cup of tea - too passive. I'd want to get more involved in the music than just playing it (like scratching and live loops). Was a really cool experience though.
