We do not have a step by step guide. You can find many generalized guides, and they are valid for LMMS too.
I have made several guides for specific situations, and i will suggest that you start there, and if you then encounter a specific issue, you are more than welcome to ask us.
On the subject of plugins that are important, i would first point at SPAN and any Equalizer, i just use 10band in the factory-plugin collection. It works!

Learn your tool. Learn how they work. Get familiar with the synths and plugins. There is no best synth or plugin. The best one is the one that you get familiar with from head to tail. As for tutorials, never look for specific solutions with a specific tool. Learn the techniques themselves and *use* the tools you already have. Look at how the big guys do things, but instead of copying them, understand their reasoning and apply it in your own context. These are very cliché advices but they are for a reason.

From my music experiments I did a list of plugins that I have been using for different type of genres. Because I do music only on my headphones / earphones, this was the best result until now, not sure how these mix chains sound on other devices like professional studio speakers, etc. Having the plugins on master is not enough, you have to tweak the plugins to shape the sound.
