You can only extend it forwards but extending it backwards would be equally useful. Version 1.3.0

Another thing, since I'm only allowed to post once every 24 hours, The automation name should include the instrument name, otherwise its impossible later to know which instrument the effect belongs to.

That i very easy to do already.
You only need to insert a copy of the Automation-clip you already have to the left for the one you like to 'backward-extend' and then edit the curve as you like. Because its a copy of the original it is already bound to the correct controller.

Yes.. That is alas a thing we have had to make because of the massive attacks that our server has endured. It is very unfortunate.

The way this relationship is simplest to establish is to move the automation-clip up under the instrument that it is controlling. You can also manually rename any automation-clip.

Thanks for the reply! Yes that is how I do it, regarding extending the automation clip. But I want the ending level of the preceding clip to match the starting level of the second clip and I want to be able to adjust the level without having to do that in both clips which also requires more effort to make them equal. So I have to resort to redoing the whole clip in order to achieve that. Another way would be to make the clip start at the beginning of the song, and end at the end of the song right away, but it gets tricky trying to find at which point I need to put in the points. It's already possible to extend backwards on sample clips, which was a very welcomed addition.

I see, regarding the attacks, that makes sense, thanks for explaining!

Yea I've been putting the automation track under the instrument track in question but it's not reliable for me. Renaming could be a better workaround but if the name was added automatically it would be much better.

I hope I'm not nitpicking too much, I just figure the better we can make LMMS the more popular it will be, and chances are if I find these details important other people might also. And I know it requires work to implement, if only I could lift my ass and contribute for once hehe..
