LMMS 1.3.0-alpha.2 is out!
After over 5 years, we finally have a new LMMS release!
This is 1.3.0-alpha.2, a new release from the development branch following the previous 1.3.0-alpha.1 release from 2021. It's not the 1.3.0 stable release yet, though it's more stable than the usual nightly build, so we recommend it to most users over the nightly builds.
If you've been following our monthly progress reports, you'll recall that we enacted a feature freeze back in May in preparation for this release. The feature freeze was incredibly successful, allowing us to slow down and focus on fixing some of the bugs (both old and new) and performance issues that could be unpleasant to users and harm the quality of the release. In total, we made 59 commits during this period, fixing bugs related to the new detachable windows feature, a few crashes, some annoying UI issues, and more. We also improved mix sanitization performance and the Song Editor's performance while scrolling, auto-scrolling, zooming, or moving clips around.
Counting from the last alpha release, this new release includes a whopping 932 commits from 65 different contributors. It brings 8 new native plugins, ARM64 builds, many new features and quality-of-life improvements, hundreds of bug fixes, and many performance improvements.

This release definitely took longer than we planned, but the extra time was necessary to get it polished and presentable. Thank you for your patience! Next we'll be setting our sights on the 1.3.0 stable release!
