LMMS, Ardour and Carla

Anything that doesn't fit into other topics goes here!
The problem: I would like to use the latest calf plugins, which are lv2 plugins if I get it right, but lmms does not support this yet.

Ardour does support lv2 plugins, but it does not have a nice tool like Vestige.

After reading a lot and almost developing a headache, I stumbled again on Carla.

If I get Carla working on opensuse in lmms, can I then use the newer calf plugins ?
(I would prob need to compile carla myself, and maybe even lmms too)

I prefer to stay on lmms, let that be clear.

So if there is any solution, which includes lmms, that would be my first choice.

If carla is a solution, it might work for windows users too ?
Carla does have a windows version too.
Maybe I should not ask questions when I am very tired.

The problem I need to solve is why Carla is not showing in lmms, although I have it installed.

Also asked for help on the linux musicians forum. (Because the guy who makes carla is reading there)
I have an answer. :)

I have no idea what's on the default opensuse repositories, but it's likely that:
1. they're using the old "stable" version
2. lmms was not built with carla pre-installed, thus the carla plugin was not made available.

contact the maintainer of those packages.
For those that do not know, flakTX is the guy who writes Carla.
So In my case I need to contact packman. (the openSUSE multimedia packages builders)

Or compile both myself, but compile and install Carla first.
What version of lmms are you using? Is it possible that the binaries from the opensuse repositories were compiled with the carla flags toggled off, irrespective of the version?
Lmms 1.1.3

I had already emailed packman (multimedia repository guys for openSUSE) but might have to try that again. I did not get any response.
Its possible that had to do with the holidays.

Problem is probably (for openSUSE) there is not carla from packman. I did find Carla over here though:
https://software.opensuse.org/search?ut ... USE%3A13.2

Although I am not a fan of compiling myself, its an option, but I first want to update my openSUSE.
Although my version (13.1) is still supported, I am two releases behind.

But carla is not there yet for leap, which is the latest release of openSUSE.

Another problem (for me) I have been considering tumbleweed, which is the rolling release of openSUSE.
The rolling release though might cause problem with the (proprietary) nvidia drivers.
Using the opensource video driver is an option for lmms, but because I also game(steam) the opensource drivers are not an option.

I did however already burn leap to a dvd.
