New Developer Hoping for Tips

Anything that doesn't fit into other topics goes here!
Hey All!

I am a new C++ developer hoping to get more involved in LMMS. I have a background in DSP theory and I'm trying to sharpen up my real-time audio programming chops.

I have been getting a bit overwhelmed with the full project, being that I haven't worked on anything this size before. I was hoping someone could provide tips for how to approach understanding/debugging LMMS or even more broadly, effective ways to get your toes wet on a project.

Thanks!
-Tyler
Hello T-boneG, welcome!

If you haven't done so already, check out this page: https://lmms.io/get-involved/

GitHub, mailinglist, and IRC channel are a few good ways to get in touch with our LMMS developers. Occasionally you may find some helpful info on these forums (viewforum.php?f=15).

That sounds super. The project can use new blood, and you are most welcome!
calRo already linked you to the theoretical 'startpoint', but you will find vivid and enthusiastic debate and discussions here:

on our program dev-hub.
All levels of skills are most welcome, and if you have any problems understanding code or getting familiar with gitHub and all the repositories, you most welcome to ask on the dev-hub

Finally i always link all new users to this -all important links:
