ZynAddSubFX Crash on Linux. Linux help needed!

Having trouble with LMMS? Ask about it here.
Hi,

I have LMMS on my Linux PC and every time I use ZynAddSubFX and click 'Show gui' The whole software crashes, even when its empty. I have the most updated version and it came with Linux. I have looked at the requirements for this software and I have it all.

I would appreciate it, if there is a way to solve this problem or if there is an other way to make Dubstep/Drumstep music using this software.

For sure there is, fi. using VST or any of the other shipped instrument, but what is your linux-version, and where did you get lmms from ?
KXstudio repository works for most linux distros, but what is your distro?

You may be able to use a vst-version of zasfx

But lets see if we cant solve this in other ways, so linux? source of lmms?
Thanks Musikbear for your quick reply.

I have Linux from PCLinuxOS (Fully updated) http://www.pclinuxos.com/. And LMMS can with the Linux package, I am pretty sure its genuine version 1.1.3.

Thanks
Unfortunately im not a linux person :/ but im pretty sure your linux has some kind of 'name' or 'type', like 'Mint' or ubuntu, kali or?
What is that?
Im sure someone, that knows all these linux versions real well, will chime in, but you could also try the kxStudio lmms, and see if that works. But ofcause the lmms that did come with your linux, should work..
Can you leave a link a VST, or a VST site where I can download one similar to ZynAddSubFX.
The one VST that should not be absent from anyones lmms, is Synth1
http://www.geocities.jp/daichi1969/softsynth/
Synth1 is a brilliant soft-synth. It is in no way as configurable as zasfx, very little is.. But Synth1 has impressive sound, very little cpu-usage, and litterary 100 000 free presets online (always scan)
Synth1 is Highly recommended!
But again, in case you missed it
You are able to use a vst-version of zasfx
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hrrl3OiiJvM
Does that fail?
Get Synth1 anywhitch, you wont regret it :)
Synth1 isn't available for Linux, it looks like it does the job for making electro style music, isn't there any other plugins/addons for Linux to make electro music? Thanks though :D

Oh! but it is, but YOU need to install wine!
All support for VSTs are through wine. Wine is a must for vst's on lmms
I think your install is flawed, and you should take a look at kxStudio lmms + wine.
I will add a hollow for a linux guru, cause im out of my padded comfort zone
I have Wine. But I don't see how I can get synth1 to work on LMMS in Linux
Have you watched vids on how to use vst in lmms. It does not matter if they use windows or Linux as operating system.

The only difference for Linux users is that we need wine, so Linux can handle the .dll files. ( as musikbear said)

What I would do first if I was you.
Make a new folder called vst, and put it any ware you iike, but its prob easiest, to put it in the same folder as were lmms is.
Put all vst youre using or gnna use in there.
Then open LMMS and go into the settings. Then browse to that vst folder from within lmms.
Then close lmms and restart lmms. Then from the instruments drag vestige into the song editor.

Then click the folder icon on the vestige instrument and go to for example, the synth1.dll file.
If you want to use external soundbanks with synth one, there is something else you need to do.
This again is almost the same for windows and Linux users.
Windows users will double click the reg2ini.exe file.
We on Linux will right click and choose open with wine.
I am openSUSE and KDE as desktop.

Zynaddsubfx does sometimes crash, but not often.
In general lmms becomes less stable with vst, but with synth1, I never have real issues.

this vid might help. ( yes he is windows, but that does not matter much in this situation.

About zynaddsubfx crashing.
One thing you can try.Open a console and type lmms. Lmms will start and don't close the console.
Then when zynaddsubfx crashes look at the console. It might tell you what the problem is.
