 I recorded rainfall and used it heavily in an lmms song but i'm worried the rain and water sounds are jarring in a bad way rather then jarring in a good way (if that makes sense.)

Also, do you guys enjoy listening to your own music?

I mean, i really dig my music while im making it, but once the creative process is finished i'm kinda over it and already working on something else which is of better quality and then i become very critical of all my previous work, no matter the genre. On top of all this, if i'm not working on music for other people, i try and record maybe 2 songs per day so the whole process repeats at an agressively rapid speed. Is that just me? Do you guys ever listen to your own music for enjoyment rather than analysis?

I think the only thing, musically, that im continuously happy with is music that ive produced for other people.

I think its not a good sound when used in short bursts. Rain as a sound is too 'random' in order to sound 'ok' as a rhythmic element, but it is super as a longer wibe-element. So i would omit the short 'bursts' but keep the long moode builders :)

But much more important; You have click artefacts! One or several of your sound-elements has either too steep attack, or too little release. Thats what makes those 'clicks'

Depends, but i quite often comes back to something, and make changes.

You describe your workflow, and i think that is not uncommon, but the way i have found most useful, is to put tracks in 'sleepmode' for at least a week, and then reopen it. Listen to it and stop it emediately, if something sounds 'bad'. That spot needs more work!

Bout heyy -Your track already has +50 listener and several likes, so you are doing ok :P

Naa - seriously, why do 'we' make music at all? Its a hobby! Right, I 'like' my tracks, 'ok', but i also know, that they wont put butter on any bread, ever.. Its like those making oilpaint 'masterpieces' in the kitchen. At most they will 'gratify' other wise innocent family members :p, but the process was fun. At least no one has to listen to 'our' music 27/7, that is not the case with uncle James' 'oil masterpiece' of "5 legged cat with ball of yarn" ..
Yeah any soft of background sound you wanna let it stay there for a long duration of time, maybe even the entire song if it fits. I think the song sounds nice for what you're aiming for with the mello, yet upbeat rhythm you have.
This hindsight song has a sick beat to it. :D
For some strange reason, the sound and vibe I get from it, strangely reminds me of the Samurai Champloo
anime show.
This track would fit in quite well, in that show. 8-)

I agree with musikbear on what he said, concerning the rain bursts.
I would also add, that if you plan to use the rain in short bursts, find a part of the rain sample, that sounds well with this track and do some work on it and make it fade out nicely too.

In my case, yes I do. 8-)
I think that's why, I'm literally taking my time, with my music.
If I'm not enjoying my tracks and they don't sound all that good, then I would sometimes, go back and fix anything that doesn't sound good. If even I have to take a few days, to do so.
Sometimes, I will add in a few more sounds etc. and make sure it sounds good. :)

This is very good advice. I do that sometimes too.
Just recently, I deliberately stayed away from one of my tracks for over a month. And I recently listened to it and realised, it didn't sound all that good. So I removed a ton of stuff and tweaked away.
Lots of work to be done on that one. :P

That is very good.
If you get critical of your previous music work and it's quality, then if you want, go back and take your time and redo some of them. 8-)
