My first song!

Share and discuss your LMMS music projects here, and see what people think!
Hello! Today I want to show you my first song I did this morning...

I downloaded this program because I wanted to make some music and it was really useful! I looked up some tutorials on this forum and they helped me a lot!

I am sure I will do more songs in the future, maybe longer than this short one...

However I hope you enjoy my first song done with LMMS! :D

So here is my video, you can find the song download in the description: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YaybCtP ... e=youtu.be
Not bad for the first time (comparing with my first songs).
+s
  • cool beat (breakbeat)
  • so short time of doing this song... wow!
  • not boring like my songs
-s
  • clipping (try mastering, try turning volume knobs)
  • you have only drums and samples -> track is not fat
  • you don't use instruments like 3Osc, BitInvader .. they are the simplest of lmms instruments and powerful, though
Add some fat to music -- more instruments, layering (google it, if you can't find layering for lmms, google it for FL Studio).

But what i like most about this song that it's not boring, not repetative like my songs -- viewtopic.php?f=5&t=5530

P. S orry for this English...
Thanks for your reply! Before making the song I surfed the forum and I listen to your songs, I didn't know you would reply mine :)

Your sounds are cool too... I don't know how to fix clipping, I just lowered the volume of everything to improve it... also I will look at the new instruments you told me and I will also use more effects...

Thanks

Just a quick question:

How do I add 30sc? Also what can I do with it...
Nice one. 3Osc is the Triple Oscillator plugin. It can be configured to produce various kinds of sounds. You can add it by dragging it from the plugins tab (or presets tab if you wish to use a preset) to the song editor window.
Also a good practice would be enabling autosaving (in Settings).
------------------
3xOsc has the biggest power/simplicity value of instruments in LMMS...
------------------
Try watching tutorials...
For beginners the best i found are these: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4dYxV3t ... 1SiRk20RRf

Thanks for the help guys!

About the youtube videos: when I started using this program that playlist was the first that I saw... I saw it until episode 5, because on 5 there was the piano midi stuff that I didn't have...
what?
you don't have lmms sequencer? or i didn't understand you?
This is nice for a first try. :)
And all instruments play in time too. Very good.

Oh, as the others told you, Lmms has alot of good plugins.
And when you learn how to make cool sounds with them, I advise checking out the ZynAddSubFX plugin that Lmms has.
That thing is a monsterZ. 8-)

Synth 1 is a good 3rd party Vst to check out too.

Woops I messed up! Wrong videos... The voice looked the same and even the things they told but really, I haven't seen that videos... so I'll check out this new playlist me right now!

The actual playlist I watched was this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-OK6YXD ... 41&index=1

That playlist was a bit old but it helped me...

So...

I made this new song using an instrument plugin you told me to use (triple oscillator) and it was very nice... I know that I can click on the triple oscillator to make the arpeggio and other things but I didn't use them in this song... I still hope you like it:

Thanks I will do, I'll check that one out!
These are good songs for the second, third, forth tries.
I think you should learn some mixing.. using not only changing volumes, but also using equalizers to avoid conflicts.

Also, you should find some drum samples, because lmms built-in are not best quality, and usually not enough good

that was my opinion

You you may want to use arpegio or do not want... it's your choice. In my bad songs there is no arpegio
