ASIO4ALL

Anything that doesn't fit into other topics goes here!
So I have downloaded the ASIO4ALL DLL from here:
https://github.com/spatialaudio/portaudio-binaries

I think thats an edited version of the original DLL file (or am I wrong?)
I put the dll into the LMMS install directory and renamed it. It works!
But are there legal issues? Can I use the dll file and the audio driver? I've read something about this that there are legal issues. Is that true?
Oh,
don't work :(
There is no sound and when I skype with someone and go into LMMS skype crashes and there is no sound in LMMS (or distorted sound)
Sorry for opening a new topic for nothing :D
But its actually interesting if there are legal issues. Can someone answer this? :D
legal stuff il leave for a lawyer
But it did not work, was that on win and what lmms version?

I dunno, the name ASIO4ALL, seems to imply a sense of openness, however, I did discover an interesting hitch with the FL Studio demo viewtopic.php?f=4&t=5540
After reading through the manual a bit, I don't see any reason as to why there'd be legal issues, It's an audio driver, so it wouldn't make sense to penalize people... for using it as an audio driver.
@musikbear It was on windows. 1.1.90 version.

Ok Mayo Staccato!

some changes has been made to the backend libs. Lmms has no libportaudio.dll in the PR. It relies on libsoundio.dll, so if you are yo try out a ASIO4FREE dll, you need to rename the asio-capable dll libsoundio.dll
Remember to backup the orr. libsoundio.dll
It would be interesting to know if it works btw :p
Are you talking about the Pre-Release which you can download at the LMMS homepage?
If yes, I will try it out!
It says: "The Procedure entry "soundio_backend_count" wasn't found in the DLL "C:\Program Files\LMMS\lmms.exe"

That is the one you already have, at least in respect to those dlls

Yes, it wont find it in lmms.exe, that why there need to be a dll!
Did you take the ASIO dll you already know to work with asio prior to the PR, renamed that dll to "libsoundio.dll", and then restarted lmms?
If you did that, im afraid the PR cant support asio any more, and perhaps that need to be reported, even though that asio support, always has been completely unsupported, just pure luck, that it actually did work in series 1.1x

Yes, I put the .dll file which I downloaded here: https://github.com/spatialaudio/portaudio-binaries in the LMMS install directory. And yes, I renamed it to libsoundio.dll.
I hope this gets fixed in some further updates - can't wait for the 1.2 update!
