Hi. I just made this post to tell the Lmms community, both old and new members, that I'm currently working hard on my music tracks.
Making new instruments and plucks etc. is hard work, especially when you're trying to get the sounds, to sound exactly like how it sounds in your mind.
As soon as I've finished them, I'll be posting links to them on YouTube and Vimeo.
(Vimeo, for those European countries/other(s) where YouTube is banned)

I'm also trying to think up, and make some cool animated music videos for them too.
Wooah! Talk about hard work for a one person band/wanabe production studio. He! He!
It seems I'll be busy to my "Beanies" in work.
I'll keep you guys posted, on my latest progress. Laterz. ;)
Hi BrandyStarBrite,

Thanks for the update! It's always cool to hear who's doing what and all that. I know how you mean about trying to get the sounds just right; for me it's getting the brass section VST's to sound like the awesome salsa bands. But I'm on the right track, and I bet you are too. Keep up the good work! :D

There is one thing I did want to offer, though; for your animated music videos I think you might want to check out the social network "Second Life"; it's basically a 3-D Facebook: people play games, chat with friends, sell stuff and the list goes on. But I've seen people do some pretty amazing things with SL movies. It might be easier than trying to do a step-by-step animation (drawing a pile of pictures etc). Just thought I'd put it out there. :)

ttyl,

PS - I hadn't thought about putting my stuff on YouTube (mostly because I don't sing worth crap and I don't have backup singers, LOL) but maybe for some of my reggaeton stuff that would work (since I can "rap" pretty good)
Thanks mfox32322. :D
And thanks for that info on Second Life. Wow! I didn't even know you could do that with it. It's definitely something I should check out.
Back up singers? Why hire when you can fake 'em!
Check this tut from Lmms user lazerblade https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VQW358I ... plpp_video
Where he does his multi voice trick in Audacity.

You can find his webshow links here in the Lmms tutorials section: https://sourceforge.net/apps/phpbb/lmms ... ?f=3&t=544

Or download Dsk Choir or Dsk Overture at their website if you wish. But it's for Orchestral type music and Final Fantasy type Symphonial Orchestras and Choirs.

Enjoy. :D
Hey, thanks for the info! I've been using Audacity for years now and I never thought ty try that! Now if I can just find a way to make it sound like I'm singing on-key, LOL :D

Yeah. That's explained in the later part of the video.
Synopsis:
1)Make multiple copies of your voice file. eg. 4 copies
2)Leave one as your normal voice. No effects added.
3)Add pitch effects on the others. Or the other three copies.
4)Add Reverb on each one .(Optional)
5)Move each audio clip a millisecond away from start of audio. So it sounds like, some singers start a millisecond later than the others.
6)Combine them, into a single clip, if you want to.

If you want to sing on key. Play your music and try to sing in tune with the song. Lot's of hard work and practice needed. Then after many practice tries. Record it.

Enjoy! :D
I hear you there. Same deal with reggaeton or "rapping" - if you just go into it recording you're sure to mess up somewhere. Better to practice first. :)

But getting back to *your* music, do you write lyrics to yours too or is it more instrumental?
mfox32322 wrote:But getting back to *your* music, do you write lyrics to yours too or is it more instrumental?
It's a combination of both. I write lyrics for some of my Trance songs and the others are strictly Instrumental. I've already written lyrics for about 4 of them.
For me, in some cases, it's easy to write lyrics for my music. But for "certain songs" it's alot of hard work. Sometimes it could take me day's, when trying to write good Lyrics.
When making Trance Music, you can afford to "skip" "Vocals/Lyrics" since in this genre, "the music does most of the talking."
Some Trance songs are so good, you don't even need a singer. Sometimes the singer can "Kill" the song. If you don't do it right.

Well, "Trance music" falls into alot of different Trance genres, types and styles. Some are instrumental, others have vocals. Others are uplifting, others are depressing.

Yes, I write Lyrics for some of my songs. Even if its just 2 or 3 simple lines. One of them took 4 pages. I'm gonna look over my "Sunset" song, and see what must go.
I think I'll do that tonight.

For the Instrumental tracks, my biggest obstacle, is trying to get my custom built instruments and Synth notes, to sound "exactly" how they sound in my mind.
And that's alot of hard work. Believe me when I say, this takes up most of my time in LMMS.
Believe me, I totally get that. Like for me, it's easy to create a great salsa or merengue song with just percussion and piano, but when it comes to the other instruments (the bass, trumpets, saxes etc) it's the same situation as your "custom instruments" - I know how they "should" sound, and I know how I wanted them to sound when I dreamed up the song, but making them sound the way I meant them to is a whole different ball game.

Like right now, I'm doing a merengue/reggaeton remix of a favorite song, and I've had the piano/percussion done for a couple weeks now; but getting the other instruments to sound "like I had it in my mind" is going to take some time.

Yep! Tell me about. It's nerve wrecking sometimes. :)
Sometimes for me, the closer I get the sound or instrument, to match how its supposed to sound in my mind. The further away it sounds, from how it's supposed to sound. Weird.
The "worst I've experienced" is that sometimes I get an annoying tapping sound, when I'm trying to make original instruments using the Triple Oscillator. And that can be quite annoying. It seems a good bit of Lmms users have experienced this problem as well.
Did you say "original instruments" - as in you "invent" your own instruments? That sounds a billion times harder than trying to master VSTI plug-in's. How does that work, creating your own instruments?
