No sound at all

Having trouble with LMMS? Ask about it here.
Hey, I'm new to this program and I tried placing a note on the piano roll and no sound plays. I decide to check the audio settings and it's set to dummy for some reason. I choose PortAudio and tried restarting and it still switched back to dummy!
Any advice?
If you are on Windows choose SDL not PortAudio. If not, let us know what OS you are using also which LMMS version and what instrument you are trying to get a sound out of.

I switched to SDL and nothing happened, so I'm using verison 1.1.3 and none of the instruments make sound.
Do any other programs like Windows Media Player play sounds o.k. ?

Have you checked that the volume control on the track is turned up and also the Master volume in the FX mixer panel ?

Try Triple Oscillator on a track, click on the name then try playing on the little keyboard at the bottom of the panel that pops up. Any sounds ?

What version of Windows is it ?

Ok, and you already have tried what Steve suggested, namely SDL and still nothing.

You need to check if you for some reason have muted output
First make sure that your instrument-button looks like this:
Image
If it does the instrument is ON.
When lmms receives a 'note-on' signal, you will have a visual acknowledgement of that event, on the instrument button
That lamp is the vertical bar to the left of the VOL-dial.
That bar should flash green if you press a note.
Does that happen?

For more please post your:
* OS (+service-pack-ver)
* lmms vers
* if any, name of theme
* hardware specification (ram & soundcard is the most imortant)
