Loud noise with reverb

Having trouble with LMMS? Ask about it here.
Hi everyone.
I have a big problem with all DAWs since I changed my CPU so I post here because I think that an open source project can fix or explain me the problem.

I have a loud burst of noise when I put a reverb on a track. I can play with all vst instruments without a problem and when I put a reverb BOOM big noise (It happens 5sec, 10sec, 30sec.. after I put the reverb. It's random).
In LMMS the signal become red and square. When I disable the reverb, the noise disappear. When I re-enable the reverb, the noise is back.

All DAWs I tested (Ableton Live, Pro Tools, LMMS) have exactly this problem. So I think it's my new CPU but why ? I just want to know why it happens and if there is a trick to fix it (like putting a special vst effect before the reverb or something like that).

I also noticed that when I watch a video on youtube or listen music, I randomly hear a click or pop now.

I went from 1333 FSB CPU to 1600, so my RAM is at max speed (DDR2-800). Is it a faulty RAM ? Or a faulty CPU ?
I have 2 sound cards and it happens with both. I tested ASIO, Windows DirectSound, SDL, same problem.

Can a low level programmer explain me what is going on ?

Well that was the easy parts...
I am rearranging your text, so it fits in my logic

Lets focus on crucial facts
All DAWs I tested (Ableton Live, Pro Tools, LMMS) have exactly this problem.
when I watch a video on youtube or listen music, I randomly hear a click or pop now.
That takes everything away from lmms, and indeed closes the book on software!
Eg:
This is a HW issue!
I just want to know why it happens and if there is a trick to fix it (like putting a special vst effect before the reverb or something like that).
No.
I tested ASIO, Windows DirectSound, SDL, same problem.
This can be disregarded. Forget about software.

So HW..
So I think it's my new CPU but why ?
Tricky.. but i think no, but that is what you have changed.. so 8|
I went from 1333 FSB CPU to 1600, so my RAM is at max speed (DDR2-800). Is it a faulty RAM ? Or a faulty CPU ?
Have you done all tests of the HW? Does any yellow exclamationmarks appear in your HW list?
I have 2 sound cards and it happens with both.
Not good

You properly need a HW specialist
Im going into my crazy mode, and say: Your pc is close to a speaker... ?

I lean towards a HW component, that is loose in a socket, and loud sound makes that vibrate..
That would happen if the resonance hits the exact Hz for the component to start to oscillate..
That wild guess should be possible to test. Try playing with no sound output, like plug in headphones or just make sure the speaker dont make any sound
What then?

We also need:
* OS (+service-pack-ver)
* hardware specification (ram & soundcard is the most important)
OS : Windows 7 SP1
RAM : 4 x 1GB DDR2-800
External soundcard : RME Multiface 1 + HDSP PCI card (driver up to date)
Motherboard : P5K-E Wifi-AP
CPU : Xeon E5472

I tested with no speakers and it's the same.
There is no yellow exclamation marks in my hardware list.
Memtest doesn't find any problem with the RAM. The Intel processor diagnostic tool doesn't find any problem with the CPU.
It's really weird.
It's like the CPU does something wrong and we can't hear it but the reverb amplify the error and this ends up with this blast of noise.

I haven't tried to reinstall Windows. I think it's my last chance.
Have you looked in the bios if the cpu is recognized correctly ?

If not then, although not totally without danger, depending on the mobo, you could try an bios update.

For those that don't know what I am talking about, ask a computer nerd to do this update it for you.

You can wreck some motherboards if you mess this up.

Yep. This part is soooooo true. :P
Careful with that bios flash!
Should only take place on a static-electricity controlled special table. That is a specialist-job.

But examine your bias, and read-out (you cant screenshot, so you need to take pics with your phone)
I sensirely doubt that this is the issue, because then you should have LOADS of trouble in every function, not 'just' sound
What about drivers? Are they up to date for both cards?
What about games, can you play games with no sound-issues?

I wrote 'not good' to the fact that you had tried 2 soundcards, i should have said why:
I leans towards a damaged soundcard socket on your motherboard.
Have you mingled with those cards before the issue started?

Drivers are your next thing to look at..
The cpu is fully recognized in the bios.

When I said 2 sound cards I meant the audio chipset of my motherboard + an external sound card with a pci card (RME Multiface) so there is no socket damage. All drivers are up to date.

I ran some tests and I partially resolved the problem. I manually set the fsb to 1333 in the bios and the problem is gone. My cpu doesn't work at full speed but no more big loud noise now.
So apparently it's a frequency problem. I don't know if it's the cpu or the ram. Perhaps a cheap ram that can't works at full speed.

I don't have the explanation but the issue is fixed so I'm going to keep this setting for now.

Thank you for your help ^^
Great :) Looking fwd for your music
Congrats you got it working.
