Volume problems

Having trouble with LMMS? Ask about it here.
Hi!

I'm having some problems with audio,

i'm making a voice mashupy type song, and it's far too quiet. the volume for all 5 voices is at 200% (which is also causing the problem i'm having, but this will be changed when my problem is fixed.), and i do have some triple osc instruments, but they're set to below 100%.

Now, when i try to turn up the master volume above 100%, it starts to get a bit distorted, and it sounds sort of bass boosted.

Is there any way of fixing this?

PS:

i'll link what i have if you want, it's only about 30 seconds long.

(i'm kinda new to lmms, so don't bash me too much if it's bad.)
Here's something I thought of on the top of my head, since you said bass-boosted.

How loud is your volume outside of your LMMS program (as in your speakers)? Is the main volume for your computer turned down really low, because I could see that making your quiet instruments distort when they're turned up.

Are you using crappy speakers/headphones/earbuds? Maybe even a bad auxiliary input on your computer? This is what I think the problem is, but I may be wrong. Musikbear will probably know more than me, so if I'm wrong just wait for him. :)
Etorna Z asked alot of good questions, and gave alot of good advice. :)

Hello. :)
Which master volume, are you speaking about? The one at the top of the Lmms screen?
Or the master FX channel mixer volume, located at the left hand bottom part of the screen?

If possible, can you post a screen shot of this mash up project, loaded into Lmms? :)

You already had good inputs, but i would like to know what plugin you use for your recordings?
If you use AudioFileProcessor, then on the MIDI tab, you have a setting:
Base-Velocity
That is default 63
You can raise this to 100, and that will influence the loudness significantly
If you use Sample-track, you do not have this option

Ok If the above does not help, then do, but as mmp
* Open project
* File | save-as
* chose a name... 'xyzzxy.mmp'
press save

Perhaps my rookie-guide can interest you? Link in signature.

it was around 50, but had to turn it up louder to get it to work.. now that i think about it, it could have been due to skype. since someone phoned when the problem started

the master at the top of the screen, it's semi okay now, but here's the track if you'd like to see ;):
