Where to find .sf2 files?

Having trouble with LMMS? Ask about it here.
hello, I'm trying to do Baa baa blacksheep from the user manual, but I can't find any .sf2 files to load in the SF2 Player.
are they hidden somewhere on the harddrive (I'm using Linux) or are we supposed to download them from the internet?
either way, does anyone know where to find them?

thanks.
Tjena!

If you're on Linux you can install the fluid soundfonts from the repositories.
On ubuntu http://packages.ubuntu.com/raring/fluid-soundfont-gm

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get install fluid-soundfont-gm
or you can get some from places like this:
http://www.hammersound.net/
cool!

thank you and tjena!
Installing a soundfont in your system surely will come handy if what you want is to play midi files. But if you want them to use in LMMS, it won't come handy.

Go here, browse the fonts, pick one, go to ~/lmms/samples and put the file you downloaded there. Open LMMS and the .sf2 file will be there like a sample. .sf2 files are "instrument banks", several instruments in a single file. So, once the file is added to your project, open the plugin and change the instrument if you please.
