Description:

Feeling good about this one. I managed to get the bassline to sound kinda groovy, and I learned something new:

If you know enough music theory, you can use pitchbend as a scale modulator! Tried it in this, lot of automation and additional instrumentation yet to be added.
Also I mixed it for some bass heavy speakers, so I put the kick above the sub. Idk how it sounds on other speakers, really thinking of buying some studio monitors.

Please leave any comments, would help a lot. Cheers :D

Also @Etorna_Z, yeah I'm not really getting good ideas on making it sound musically richer :/

Eh, that's fine :D I do have an idea for you, though. Have you considered stacking octaves? For example, take the pad, lower it an octave, then go into the function part of the plugin and make it so that it plays two octaves. Sounds pretty nice, in my opinion, but do whatever floats your boat. :) Posted by: Etorna_Z  on 2017-01-06 18:51:55
Stacking octaves would work except for one problem. The current synth is already in a frequency range right above 400 hz I think. So lowering it means the span now ranges from 200. Add to this the leaking harmonics from the sub and the kick sitting on top of it and the sound will get muddy. Also I had to eq the snare before putting up this project because without the parametric eq the snare sounded pretty much like a clap, too many highs and not enough punch. So I used the 10 band eq to increase at 125 hertz, which again means that the root of the snare (around 100 to 400 I think) will clash. Posted by: Madman_ac  on 2017-01-06 20:23:38
I was thinking of adding stuff like arpeggios in the background to make it sound nicer, but I can't seem to generate a complex or beautiful enough sound for it. I took inspiration from one of drake's songs, "hold on, we're going home". I love majid jordan, their style of music is very in tune with where I'm heading. Even kendrick lamar is a beast, exquisite jazz sampling. So there's an instrument playing a small lick during the chorus of that song, almost like an electronic flute. Possibly a sample again, gonna have to work my brains harder :p Posted by: Madman_ac  on 2017-01-06 20:29:05
