It's got definite potential, but a few criticisms from me. I don't like the panning on the synths. It's kind of annoying. The hard kick is loud, that could stand to be turned down. The song needs more in it; pads, subbass, etc. Look at other projects for examples. This is a very well done first project! I'm willing to answer those. :) 1. What does panning do? Panning makes the noise sounds louder in one ear and quieter in another. For example, if you turn the knob all the way to the right it'll only be in your right earbud/headphone; you won't be able to hear it in your left at all (by the way, if you don't have any earbuds or headphones I suggest you get some, that way you can hear panning better). 2.What presets should I use for subbass and pads? For me, I use ZynAddSubFX. When I open it up to create the subbass I add a little attack and decay and then turn the sustain value up all the way in the amplitude envelope. Then I turn the whole synth down two octaves. Then I add a small reverb in the effects in LMMS, as well as a bass booster (If you don't understand these instructions I can direct you to some basic ZASFX tutorials). TripleOSC works, as well, but I like ZASFX better because it feels like it has nicer quality. As for pads, ZASFX again. The folder with all of the ZASFX presets contains a ton of pads for you to experiment with, let alone just use. 3. Any other ways I can improve? Practice, practice, practice. Look at other files made by people, see how presets work, make your own, etc. Also, begin to learn the basics of music theory and stuff like mastering and equalization. And also a little tip; once you get to the point where you know your music sounds good, stop uploading your files to the sharing platform. Put them somewhere like soundcloud or another website, and especially do not give download links.
