It's nothing personal. IMO it's pretty hard to give this project criticism because there's not one clear issue. This project is fundamentally flawed. So If I wanted to give you good criticism I would have to go really deep into the theory of composing a song. Please don't take this as an insult. We've all been beginners and I know the struggle. The fact is that it's really hard to improve if you don't know HOW to improve. Not having the TOOLS and the KNOWLEDGE makes it almost impossible to improve because you don't know what you're doing wrong. Only after recognizing what you need to improve can you actually start improving. Honestly the best way to improve is listening to your favorite artists and trying to analyze what they do, how they structure a song, how they create their melodies etc... Also if you want to make electronic music there's a TON of tutorials on the internet on sound design, creating melodies, structuring a song etc. i'm going to leave you some links that you should check out: 1) SeamlessR Sound design heavy channel, has pretty advanced stuff but he has a bunch of long videos where he creates songs from scratch. Those are REALLY helpful if you want to see how a mind of a producer works. learning basic music theory: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Y01jIorpeA You don't really need to know a lot about music theory to make music, but it's REALLY gonna help in the long run. I don't really watch this guy, but he seems to have great toturials: https://www.youtube.com/user/cosmcosm Also try not to use the piano sample that comes with LMMS it's in the uncanny valley where it sounds pretty realistic, but not quite good so it's actually really bad. In general try to stay away from the instrument samples. Use instruments that are digitally created not recorded. Posted by: Squatro  on 2017-04-02 18:35:57
@ash: you wanted some feedback, so you got it: 1) Your chord progression Cmaj7 G6 D D6 is a bit weird. Standard chord progressions are more pleasant to the ear :-) 2) The green marker in your piano01 sample is set to A4. But the piano01 sample is recorded in C4. Put the green marker to C4. Otherwise the piano sample will be played off-tune. 3) I miss a melody in your song. Keep it up! Posted by: Peter F  on 2017-04-02 19:26:46
I seem to have forgotten to link the youtube channel of SeamlessR. Here: https://www.youtube.com/user/SeamlessR Posted by: Squatro  on 2017-04-02 19:29:09
I agree with Peter F. The Chord Progression is so off. Also Don't make the drum fills longer than a measure otherwise it will sound awkward. Also try adding more complexity in the drums, which is kind of the key essence of future bass. Also Try using the Piano Roll when making drum sequences, it kinda helps on the complexity. yay thanks guys I'll try change the chord progression and add a melody. I haven't finished the song yet, this is just a tiny bit of it! Posted by: ash  on 2017-04-03 08:44:23
