I use a midi drum pad, with preconfigure drum sounds. It's nice just to set the drums you want a press a few buttons for the drums. I have found It will not work with the drumkit, built in to LMMS, or the bass drum line editor. It only works with sound fonts.
This is done with fluid sound fonts room 6 drum kit.
