Description:
Advanced EDM Template
You can use this project as a template base for your EDM composition.
Save it to your user template directory as a template (remember to change the extension to mpt) and it will appear in the File menu under "New from template") By default user templates should be saved on the "LMMS Working Directory"\templates -check your settings, in "Directories" under "LMMS Working Directory"-.
Sorry, but the LMMS Sharing Platform site doesn't allow uploading mpt files.
The "colored" BB tracks are used as a reference markers. I don't use them as a "real" BB tracks, because I tend to make the beat directly on the Song-Editor. Since LMMS do not have markers I find this idea useful to not get lost when you have lots of audio samples and instruments.
You don't have to follow the propossed structured because it depends on the song and style you are making, but it serves as a starting guide. Adapt it to your track.
The same happens with the propossed patterns for the percussions and effects. They are just a guide. Just drad-and-drop your preferred samples onto the Audiofileprocessor Wave Viewer and you're good to go!
A general routing of FX channels are also set. Every track goes to a channel (from kicks to FX), those are routed to a particular BUS (Drums BUS, etc...), and those go to a general BUS (music goes to TRACK SUB and vocals and leads goes to LE/VOC SUB) and those then go to Premaster and from there to Master. The idea is that you can put effects on different points, affecting just one instrument, a group or the whole track. There are addittional channels set in case you need "Sends" (for general reverb, panning or delay) or sidechaning.
There are some free VST on the master that you may find useful. Those are:
- Voxengo Span analyzer, one of the best spectrum frequency analizer.
- Youlean Loudness Meter, it will help you check the true perceived loudness of your track (Tip: deactivate the effect before saving the project, because it somehow store in the project file the "last" session data, an it can be huge!)
- Melda Production\MStereoScope, to check your stereo
- Voxengo Correlometer, a multi-band correlation metering to check phase issues (specially important in the low end)
- Vennaudio Utility, a free, lightweight, universal general purpose all in one digital channel strip, specially useful to check your track in mono. I also use TT Dynamic Range Meter from DR-Meter, but it is a little harder to find.
I hope you find the template useful!
