this voice 2 preset feature is mind-blowing Posted by: mpxvm  on 2025-11-17 13:12:27
Thanks. I have created a MATLAB script which I can share which converts short samples to 4-bit PCM expressions at a selection of 8,4, or 2 kHz. It should also run on a freeware program called Octave, although I haven't tried installing Octave on this computer since I had to reinstall Windows just after installing an old version a couple of years ago. I'd be more than happy for anyone to convert it to C++ or HTML. This sound output (though 4 bit and not 8 bit) reminds me of sampling off the radio with my first sampler, which I had as a teenager (many years ago). It was for the Amiga 500 and called the GSoft Audio Imager. It was built and sold walking distance from where I currently live. Posted by: ewanpettigrew  on 2025-11-18 06:52:55
Strange enough this works in alpha but produces no sound in nightly... I wonder if there was a bug introduced or if it's just me who don't understand Posted by: NiftySardine  on 2025-11-19 18:33:52
The newer versions (nightly build) have changed the parsing to a type called ExprTk parsing (I wasn't aware of this until you pointed this out). This means any older Xpressive projects such as mine will have no speech (or other sounds with time segments) when played in newer versions. I have most of the work done to get it sounding the same on newer versions except that I will have to create new projects. Posted by: ewanpettigrew  on 2026-01-18 22:22:31
